Why Our €1 Bank Verification Is Essential for a Trustworthy Marketplace

At MeatBorsa, our mission is to build the most trusted and efficient digital marketplace for the meat trade. Every design decision we make serves that mission—and our new bank verification step is no exception.

You may have noticed that we now require new and existing members to complete a €1 SEPA bank transfer from their official company account before unlocking full platform access. Let me explain why this simple step is not just important—it’s transformational.

Verifying Identity in B2B Commerce Is Hard

The B2B food trade, especially in high-value categories like meat, is vulnerable to bad actors. Fake listings, duplicate accounts, and misrepresented companies can undermine the integrity of a digital marketplace.

Traditional verification methods—like document uploads and email confirmation—are a good starting point, but they’re not foolproof. Fraudsters have gotten smarter. That's why we’ve added a bank-level identity check as the final step.

Why the €1 Bank Transfer Works

We ask every company to send a €1 SEPA transfer from their official company bank account. Here’s what that accomplishes:

  • Legal and Financial Traceability:
A bank-initiated transfer ties directly to a registered business entity—something fake companies can’t easily fake.

  • Single-Entity Assurance:
By validating each account through its banking details, we eliminate duplicate and impersonator profiles.

  • Trust Among Members:
When you see the “Verified” badge on a MeatBorsa profile, you know you’re dealing with a real company with skin in the game.

What We Don’t Accept—and Why

  • Transfers from personal accounts – They’re not traceable to a registered business.

  • Virtual banks or wallets – These don’t provide the verification clarity we need.

  • Mismatched payment references – We use the company name to match transfers to profiles.

This isn’t about making things harder—it’s about making things safer. In an industry where deals are large and margins tight, even one bad transaction can do serious damage. We won’t let that happen on our platform.

What Happens After You Verify

Once we match your €1 transfer to your profile:

  • You’ll receive your Verified badge

  • You’ll gain full access to tenders, listings, private messaging, and deal-making features

  • You’ll become part of a trusted network—not just a user on a website

And no, we don’t keep the €1—it’s symbolic. It’s a token of trust, not a revenue stream.

Building the Marketplace We Deserve

Every legitimate business wants a safe and credible environment to trade in. Our bank verification process is part of a broader strategy to ensure that everyone on MeatBorsa is who they say they are.

We're committed to giving real companies real tools to succeed—and that starts by knowing exactly who we’re working with.

Let’s keep building this together,
